Governors

Who are we?

Liskeard School & Community College has a governing committee consisting of 14 governors.

The chair of Liskeard School & Community College governing committee is Dr Ian Williams who can be contacted via the governors’ clerk, Mrs Kate Williams (Kate.Williams@smart-trust.net) or at the below postal address.

Chair of the Local Governing Committee, Liskeard School & Community College, Luxstowe, Liskeard, Cornwall, PL14 3EA

Through their representation of the wider school community (this includes the parents, school staff and other members of that community), governors help their school improve and provide the best possible education for their students.

Dr Dean James-Robbins - Chair of Governors

I have a professional background in Programme Management at the British Council where I have worked in a range of IT, Finance and Strategic Planning roles. I was also the Chair of Governors at an Islington Primary School for several years before I moved to Cornwall in 2021. I have an MA in Art History and a PhD in English Literature and am passionate about the creative and performance arts in education. I am currently the Safeguarding Link governor at LSCC.

Angela Edward-Jones

I have lived in Liskeard for almost 6 years, and currently work as a Head of Customer Service and Assurance.  I have previously been a School Governor/Chair of Governors at a primary school in Plymouth and have just completed a 9-year term as a Board Member at a South Devon Housing Association.  I’m looking forward to being part of Liskeard School, and hope I can make a contribution to its achievements.

Sarah Marshall

I retired in April 2022, having worked in Primary Schools since 1984, first as a teacher and then, from 2010, as a headteacher. My career in education has given me a broad overview of the challenges and also the rewards in trying to provide the best opportunities for children and young people. I have extensive experience across all areas of governance. I am keen to use the knowledge and skills I have acquired to continue supporting education and to contribute to the community.

Victoria Robinson

I have been a registered Dental Nurse for 28 years. I currently work as an Outreach Dental Nurse for a corporation with a mission of tackling oral health inequality for healthier, happier communities.

I moved to Cornwall in 2005 and currently both my children attend Liskeard College.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be a parent governor. I have had no experience of being a governor before, but I am committed to the role and willing to learn. I am excited to be part of Liskeard School & Community College working to support all pupils in reaching their full potential.

I am keen to use all the knowledge and skills I have achieved from my many years of working in Health Care in a public-facing role and will be an approachable member of our school community.

Claire Moss

After spending my childhood, and attending school in South East Cornwall, I lived for a number of years in Melbourne, Australia, before relocating back to Cornwall in 2013 with my husband and eldest daughter. I now have 2 daughters; my eldest is at Liskeard School and my youngest will be joining when her time comes. I have worked in Adult Education for over 7 years, working with local people from various backgrounds and witnessing first-hand how education and skills training can positively impact not only the trajectory of a person's life, but also their self-esteem and self-worth. I am currently in a secondment position working within SEND and Inclusion, and this has given me further insight and understanding into how every child and young person learns differently, and how important it is that each of them are given the support they need to have an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.

I am excited to take on the role of a Parent Governor for the first time, and to be able to contribute to the school community, and I am particularly passionate about supporting those students who have SEND to be able to succeed alongside their peers during their time at Liskeard. In my spare time, I enjoy dog walks, reading and spending time by the sea with my family!

Dan Wendon - Headteacher

Trudi Hocking - Staff Governor

Diane Stoneham - Staff Governor
