Sports Day 2024 - Letter to Parents/Carers
Dear Parent/Guardian
Our annual sports day is due to be held on Friday 28th June 2024. We value this day as a day of celebration, competition and achievement with activities chosen to ensure all students are catered for. This year we are hosting a round-robin activity morning where your son/daughter will have selected one of four activities to compete in. During the afternoon, the whole school comes together to compete in athletics relays before we conclude the day with the presentation for the winning tutor groups. This year there are awards for the winning tutor groups and sports champions; those students who have displayed our core values of courage, kindness and resilience throughout the day.
The weather is looking good for the week, and we are hopeful that the fine weather will continue. If the day has to be postponed due to safety concerns caused by poor weather, we will aim to make the call at the earliest possibility and send a text out to let everyone know.
Students are required to attend school in their school PE kits for the day:
- Black PE shorts (no gym/lycra/Nike pro style shorts.)
- Leggings if preferred to shorts (PE would advise against given the temperature.)
- Blue Liskeard PE top
If students arrive to school in the wrong kit, then a phone call will be made home to rectify this issue. The student will be unable to participate in the day until they are in the correct PE kit.
Students will need to have the following with them:
- Plenty to drink
- Suncream and a hat
- Cash for the ice cream van (optional)
- Shinpads (if they have opted for football)
The canteen is open (serving from the technology block) and this remains cashless, so please ensure that there is appropriate level of credit on their accounts prior to Friday as there will be no chance to update this during Sports Day.
The competition will start at 09:30 and is due to finish at 15:15. Students will go to morning greeting and tutor to register in the morning before coming to PE. We regret to inform you that we can not facilitate spectators during the day; however, we will be updating the school social media pages with the results of the day.
We look forward to celebrating a day of sport with all members of our LSCC community. If there are any questions, please direct your son/daughter to ask their tutor in the first instance.
Kind regards
Miss S Rowe (Acting Head of Physical Education)
