Inspiring the Next Generation: Girls Explore Engineering on #INWED24
It was an exciting day for nine of our Year 8 girls when they got to participate in International Women in Engineering Day (#INWED24) at Truro High School for Girls! Over twenty different employers in various engineering sectors came together to run workshops and group activities, all with the goal of inspiring and educating young minds about the potential of a career in engineering.
The girls had a fantastic time engaging in different activities and discussions, learning about the many different engineering fields and the various job opportunities that are available to them in the future. They even got the chance to show off their own skills and creativity by coming up with their own designs. Ava impressed everyone with her designs of a Cantilever bridge and water pump and walked away with two prizes!
This event was a great way to encourage and support the next generation of female engineers. It's inspiring to see how many industry professionals were willing to share their knowledge and experience with these young girls, giving them the confidence they need to succeed in this exciting field.
A huge thank you to Truro High School for Girls for organising such an amazing event. We're so grateful that our students got the opportunity to meet with these industry professionals and gain hands-on experience in the engineering sector. We can't wait to see where their talents and passions will take them!
