Dear Parent/Guardian,
For many years, Liskeard School and Community College have offered the opportunity for students to experience the thrills and delights of a Skiing trip. We are extremely excited with the return of this trip during this coming February half-term, and due to the success in terms of uptake, we are proposing to offer a Ski trip for February 2026. We, as a school, recognise the financial struggles due to the current economic situation, but are hopeful that this proposal will be of interest to pupils. Please find below further details.
Important information:
- Please take note that whilst skiing is a fantastic sport, it requires a certain level of fitness. The sport itself is very demanding on the muscular- skeletal system and cardio-respiratory system. Pupils are expected to ski every day and they will get tired. We would ask that you take this into consideration when applying for a place on the trip.
- It is also important that pupils understand that they cannot simply choose not to ski for a session and stay in the hotel. It is extremely difficult for pupils to 'catch up' if they miss lessons.
- We also reserve the right to only take pupils whose behaviour in school is consistently excellent. There are too many risks to take any pupil who will not listen to members of staff. We will undertake a risk assessment to ensure that students who attend the trip are able to follow instructions. A rigorous process of selection will take place before places are allocated. This will be guided by ClassCharts reports and general staff views. Consultation will also take place with the respective Heads of Year.
Destination:
Our next skiing trip will be to the ski resort of Hochkrimml, Austria. Our host company advise:
The small mountain village of Hochkrimml consists of three communities (Filzsteinalm, Duxeralm and Silberleiten). In addition to hotels, there are restaurants and sports shops. Hochkrimmel is the ideal gateway to the Zillertal Arena ski area. It is also easily accessible by coach and easy to get to Krimml and Neukirchen for entertainments.
The resort accesses the Zillertal Arena ski area:
The Zillertal Valley has three large ski areas with 489 kilometres of slopes, including the Zillertal Arena, which has 150 kilometres of slopes. The Zillertal Valley has slopes for all levels, from beginner blue runs to expert black runs. The Zillertal Arena has a large practice area for beginners and children, and a run called the "HohenfresserTour" that descends 1,930 vertical meters into the valley.
Facilities in the area include:
- Shops/cafes/bars
- Bakery
- Restaurants
- Doctor
- Medical Centre
The Ski Area:
Kilometres of piste: | 489km |
Ski height range: | 1200m - 3250m |
