All-Female Team Triumphs at the IET Faraday® Challenge Day
This week, 30 of our creative and innovative Year 8 students participated in the IET Faraday® Challenge Day, an exciting event that brought out the best in their STEM skills. Working in teams, the students tackled a real-world STEM challenge with invaluable support from the Education Business Partnership (EBP) team from Cornwall Council, along with two inspiring STEM ambassadors: Alexandra Nicolaescu from Alstom and Mircea MICLE from Network Rail.
The competition was intense, with teams being judged on various criteria, including their planning, device development, budgeting, teamwork, and final presentations. The dedication and ingenuity displayed by all teams was fantastic.
In a thrilling conclusion, the competition was won by an all-female team, showcasing the power and potential of young women in STEM fields. The winning team, Talia, Elowen, Lorelai, Charlotte, and Lucie, demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity throughout the day.
As a result, the winning team will be in contention for a spot in the finals held in June, where the top five scores nationally will compete. We are incredibly proud of our winning team and wish them the best of luck as they prepare for the next stage of the competition. Fingers crossed for their success!
