Year 8 Peer Mentors Gear Up to Support New Students
Our newly appointed Year 8 Peer Mentors are ready to hit the ground running this summer! They recently participated in a comprehensive morning program led by NHS experts. This training equipped them with the skills they need to support incoming Year 7 students who might be experiencing anxiety, friendship challenges, or low confidence.
The program covered crucial topics like active listening, problem-solving techniques, and the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding. These skills will be invaluable as our Peer Mentors help new students navigate the transition to secondary school.
We're incredibly proud of our Year 8 Peer Mentors and their dedication to supporting their peers. Their training will not only benefit new students but also help those struggling with emotional-based school avoidance feel more comfortable and engaged.
